2012. March 13.

After months of preparations, executives from the Palace of Arts and the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA) signed a content/strategy cooperation agreement in the scope of their press conference held on March 13.

The Palace of Arts’ General Manager, Csaba Káel said that a dream has come true by the establishing of this agreement, as a result of which audiences will now have continuous access to high quality culture through several channels. He emphasised that the high standard service package adopted today is and exemplary and synergic one which will complement the counterparts’ profiles and showcase the diversity of Hungary’s cultural scene, along with the source of energy that resides in high culture.
Dr. István Böröcz, CEO of MTVA, was likewise pleased to see the two institutions establishing a landmark partnership with one another, noting that the agreement was an organic part of the series of cooperation agreements previously concluded by MTVA. He furthermore stressed that this was the first time for concluding an agreement which guarantees the creation of an array of productions that are envisaged to affect all of the media service provider’s channels, are consciously aligned to programming and cater to the demand of high culture aficionados. Although the term of the current agreement is set to expire at the end of 2012, Dr. Böröcz expressed his hope for continuing cooperation through next year as well.
A total of 135 cultural events will reach audiences through four of MTVA’s channels (Duna TV, M1 TV, radio stations MR2-Petőfi and MR3-Bartók Rádió), said Dr. László Zsolt Szabó, Chief Production and Technical Officer at MTVA. He stressed that not only will the excellent acoustics and atmosphere of the Palace of Arts guarantee the superior recording and broadcasting of high culture programs, but also the cutting edge technical background and the expertise of the highly qualified professionals on his team. Akusztik and Szimfonik, Radio MR2-Petőfi’s existing brands will be rejuvenated and presented as new programs entitled Akusztik+ and Szimfonik+ at the Palace of Arts, and also recorded for television. Screen-edited versions of world music, folklore and jazz events, as well as classical music concerts at the Palace of Arts are set to air on Duna TV under the titles MüpArt and MüpArt Classic, with 31 episodes scheduled for each of these shows. MüpArt will kick off on March 17 with Bea Palya’s concert, while MüpArt Classic will premiere with the Tchaikovsky Marathon on March 22. According to calculations, the various programs of the different channels will reach some one hundred thousand viewers/listeners.
Imre Szabó Stein, the Palace of Arts’ strategic communication advisor pointed out that the agreement was a one-of-a-kind arrangement even in international comparison. He cited the Bernstein series of CBS or Arte and ZDF channels’ programming as examples for similar cooperation, but he emphasized that he did not know of any other cooperation agreement that involved several channels in such a complex arrangement.
Of Akusztik+’s line-up, the Carbonfools also made an appearance at the press conference to premiere their latest video clip, and a live performance by Tamás Szarka – singer of Ghymes, scheduled to perform at the Palace of Art on May 2 – added a touch of ceremony to the conclusion of the event and gave a taste of the new TV show’s atmosphere.
