Party In The Garage!

2016. June 08.

Close to 400 young participants had a party Sunday night at the Garage Band Festival, to the music of the winning bands of the contest jointly organised by Müpa Budapest and the Ludwig Museum.

The idea behind the contest for amateur pop and rock bands was to provide a platform for aspiring bands, and also, to target an audience that has so far never really thought of Müpa Budapest as a source of their kind of entertainment.

The underground garage at Müpa Budapest turned into a music and dance club on 4 June, with aspiring young bands handing each other the baton on the stage; besides having fun, the audience could also vote for their favourite performers. The Müpa Budapest special prize – a whole day’s use of Müpa Budapest’s recording studio and a band photo shoot – went to the band called The Luckies. They will also participate in Profissimo, a music program created by Port.hu with the aim of showcasing creative talent from various artistic fields and achieving national recognition for their names.  Another fan favourite of the contest, The Bluebay Foxes will perform live at the Ludwig Terasz at the Night of Museums event on 25 June, courtesy of the Ludwig Museum, and will also appear on the museum’s blog.
