New York Voices to perform instead of Gregory Porter at Jazz Spring

2015. April 10.

Grammy Award winning New York Voices will be performing with the Modern Art Orchestra at the Palace of Arts’ Jazz Spring Festival instead of Gregory Porter, after Porter’s management cancelled the 9 May concert.

The professional career of New York Voices has been unbroken for 27 years. As the best of the best in four-part vocal jazz, they have broken new ground among vocal ensembles with their unique vocal blend, harmonising and stylistic diversity. The ensemble is equally at home in jazz, R’n’B, Brazilian music, pop and classical music, and work regularly with a trio lineup as well as big band settings. They won their first Grammy in 1996 for a big band recording with the Count Basie Orchestra, and celebrated their 25th anniversary with the legendary WDR Big Band. Their accompanying band on 9 May, the Modern Art Orchestra led by Kornél Fekete Kovács, are no strangers to them either, having already played together a year and a half ago as part of an exclusive concert. In addition to well-known classics, they will also play a number of new arrangements at the concert, meant as a surprise for the audience.

Tickets purchased for Gregory Porter’s performance are valid for the New York Voices concert, or may be returned for a full refund at the Palace of Arts’ box-offices from the date of publication of the notice until the date of the performance.
