Liszt, Dohnányi, Bartók and Kodály with Zoltán Kocsis: A Concert with the Euphonia – Central European Youth Orchestra

2011. February 18.

Zoltán Kocsis will appear as conductor and István Lajkó as soloist at the concert of the Euphonia – Central European Youth Orchestra to be held on 26th February in Budapest.

The Euphonia project was realized from the concept raised by the deans of the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and the Zagreb Academy of Music regarding the period of Hungary’s EU presidency. The symphonic orchestra – made up of music students from Budapest, Belgrade, Ljubljana, Graz, Vienna and Bucharest – will perform works by Hungarian composers of universal significance. The authentic rendition of works by “world citizen” Ferenc Liszt, Bartók and Kodály – reformers of Hungarian music – and Ernő Dohnányi, the pianist and composer who felt right at home on every “key” in the “Monarchy” will be guaranteed by Zoltán Kocsis, conductor for the evening.

Following the premier in Budapest, the concert will also be performed in Zagreb, Ljubljana, Graz and Vienna.
