Free admission to 1705’s performance as well on International Jazz Day

2014. April 24.

The Palace of Arts will join the International Jazz Day programme on 30 April with another special concert. 1705, a trio made up of Zsolt Kaltenecker, András Dés and Béla Piri, will take to the stage with one of the leading guitarists of the European jazz scene, Wolfgang Muthspiel.

In November 2011, upon the recommendation of legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, UNESCO officially designated 30 April as International Jazz Day. This year, Hungary joins this global series of events with a one-of-a-kind initiative: audiences all over the country as well as in cities across the border will be able to enjoy free concerts on this day. This is the first free and nationwide event, the primary goal of which is to promote the genre. The idea emerged at the professional forum of the Jazz Showcase held at the Palace of Arts at the beginning of the year, and a total of 23 locations and close to 100 artists have so far joined the initiative. The majority of concerts will be held at the Palace of Arts, where from the afternoon until late at night performers such as the Rafael Márió Trió; the Karosi Júlia Quartet; Santa Diver; Orsolya Burján and the Pálinkálom; and the Balogh Tamás Quartet will take turns on stage. As the April show of the Palace of Arts Jazz Workshop is also scheduled for 30 April, in the spirit of the International Jazz Day, the Palace of Arts will offer free admission to the concert by 1705 and Wolfgang Muthspiel, which was announced many months ago.

To participate, please register on the website. The prices of tickets already purchased will be refunded at the entrance to the Festival Theatre before the concert.
