Dream Time to follow Sunlegend

2010. April 08.

The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble (MÁNE) held a press briefing at the Hungarian Heritage House (Hagyományok Háza) on the occasion that, having concluded their recent successful tour in France, they are to perform in Dortmund on April 11, while also preparing for a new premiere in autumn.

Manager-director of the Hungarian Heritage House Mária Ferencz informed the press that the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble has toured France for decades, albeit with breaks from time to time; their latest tour, from March 2 to April 5, 2010, brought them to Paris as well as several other cities in France. The performance series was a great success, with all the 26 shows completely sold out.
Artistic leader of the ensemble Gábor Mihályi added to the above that, at the expressed request of the organising partner in Paris, the production performed had no title; the name of the ensemble in itself was a guarantee for the success of the performance presenting the most beautiful dances, music and traditional costumes of the Carpathian Basin. On April 10, 2010, MÁNE would travel to Dortmund where, as a distinguished guest at the most significant contemporary festival of North Rhein Westfalen, they were to present the show Bartók Trilogy 2 - Labyrinth, already a popular performance in Hungary, Mr Mihályi said. It was also revealed at the briefing that ten years after the premiere of Sunlegend, one of the most acknowledged pieces of the ensemble, the creators of the show, including Nikola Parov, were now working on the preparations of a similar production. The realisation of the new show has been made possible with the assistance of the Palace of Arts, it was also pointed out.
Deputy General Managed of the Palace of Arts András Csonka noted that although, contrary to original plans, the Hungarian Heritage House was not established within the walls of the Palace of Arts, there has been close cooperation between the two institutions. The latter is also proved by the fact that Sunlegend as well as Labyrinth, to be presented in Dortmund, are often listed under the “own events” of the Palace of Arts. Mr Csonka underlined that the Palace of Arts took part in the production of the Dream Time as a co-producer. Thank to the National Dance Theatre, after the premiere on October 6, 2010, the new piece was also to be put on the programme, so the Dream Time could become part of the repertoire just like Sunlegend or Labyrinth.
