Anne-Sophie Mutter Earns Brahms Award

2010. April 06.

Anne-Sophie Mutter has been chosen as the awardee of the Brahms Society of Schleswig-Holstein. This year, the award worth ten thousand Euros is to be presented to the research group of Christian Albrechts University of Kiel preparing the critical summary edition of the works of Brahms, while the 2011 award is to go to the lady violinist.

Since 1988, the award has been presented to personalities or institutions that have made considerable effort to popularise Brahms’ music.
Even now, Anne-Spohie Mutter is touring the world playing the works of the German composer; in April, she is to feature her latest album of Brahms’ violin-piano concertos with pianist Lambert Orkis in the Far East. In late May, she is to appear in Hungary at last: as part of her European tour, she is to give a concert at the Palace of Arts on May 28, performing Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, under Manfred Honeck, to the Hungarian audience.
