Guitarist Vicente Amigo brings new life and a magical quality to flamenco, and is already being touted as the heir to the throne of Paco de Lucía. The 44-year-old grew up and continues to live in Córdoba, although he was born in Guadalcanal in the province of Seville. He was given his first guitar aged eight and soon discovered the instrument's huge potential for expressing emotions, perfecting his skills with Manolo Sanlúcar. On launching his solo career, he established a philosophy of remainin...g faithful to the stylistic framework of flamenco while creating music that pushes the boundaries of modernity with its wonderful variations, imaginative improvisation and elegant compositions. He has also featured on recordings of some of the most famous singers of the genre, including Camarón de la Isla, Carmen Linares, José Mercé and El Pele. Amigo's own albums betray a rapid path of development, ever since he made his breakthrough with the release of Ciudad de las Ideas 11 years ago. Since then, Amigo has taken his music just about everywhere in the world, although this is his first ever appearance in Hungary. He has won dozens of gold medals, awards and accolades, including the Premios de la Música, the Latin Grammy and honorary citizenship of Córdoba. He has worked with several symphony orchestras and performed as a soloist at the Metropol, conducted by Vince Mendoza, while his compositions have been performed by the Spanish National Ballet. Thanks to his burgeoning reputation, he has also worked with John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, David Bowie, Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Milton Nascimento, Sting, Eliane Elias and Paco de Lucía.
