Barnabás Pély – vocals, guitar, Áron Romhányi – keyboards, rap, Gergő Mits – bass guitar, Péter Vadász – drums Ever since 1999, United has been present in the public consciousness in Hungary, with their continually evolving style and fresh songs. They are probably our only professional fusion-pop band, and their music elements of funk, jazz, pop, soul, rock and blues complement each other with a remarkable lightness of touch. The band’s members are also not unfamiliar as individual performers i...n their own right. Barnabás Pély leads a band playing English language compositions: Barna Pély and the Groove masters, and is also the engine of the Road Kill Café rhythm and blues band. Despite his youth, he has been the jazz singing professor at the János Kodolányi College jazz faculty for years now. Áron Romhányi performs regularly with his own trio and several of his bands in Hungary and abroad. With his progressive piano playing based on classical jazz traditions, and as a song composer, he has strengthened a number of contemporary jazz productions, among them the Fonogram Prize winning Loop Doctors and the eMeRTon Prize winning Fusio Group. Gergő Mits also teaches at the János Kodolányi College, he is professor for jazz bass guitar. His precise, harmonic and melodic bass playing style and a highly professional attitude to music making has made him a leading figure among his generation of musicians. Thanks to the refined musicality and creative playing of Péter Vadász, he has been the living inspiration of numerous Hungarian bands (for example: Palermo Boogie Gang, Tramps, Zsuzsa Cserháti, Bill Gyula Deák, Barna Pély & the Groovemasters, Frank Zappa Memorial Band, The Miles Davis Corporation). This concert will feature United’s famous hits but in novel acoustic jazz arrangements. The concert will give focus to instrumental and vocal improvisations that we hear little of in the media these days.
