Szilvia Bognár has been singing since a very early age and has been searching for just as long for genres, musical forms and groups in which she can show what singing means to her. As a teenager she sang folk songs in traditional bands, before joining electronic act Anima Sound System after graduating. Later she performed Bulgarian, Serbian, Greek and Corsican tunes with Vándor Vokál, melded several different styles as a singer for Makám, and featured as a guest artist with both the Hungarian St...ate Folk Ensemble and the Sebő Ensemble, leading exponents of sung poetry. She has also worked with lutist and early music specialist István Kónya, while creating the folk music production Szájról szájra with fellow singers Ági Szalóki and Ágnes Herczku. In the last 2-3 years she has moulded together and filtered these many experiences to come out with fantastic solo albums such as Semmicske énekek or her latest album of Christmas songs, Harang csendül. It was in relation to the latter, when giving a joint Christmas concert in December 2009, that Bognár came into contact with György Ferenczi and Rackajam, as the two groups performed not only their own compositions but several joint pieces as well. The great success of the cooperation did not come as such a surprise as Rackajam similarly roams from genre to genre, mixing folk music, funk, reggae and hip-hop. The group is also no stranger to setting poetry to music, achieving one of its biggest hits with its album containing poems by Sándor Petőfi produced as part of the so-called Hangzó Helikon series.
