The Ferencváros Festival is celebrating its 15th birthday with a unique “street ball” and has brought together three ensembles, each of which would be an event on their own and none of whom require an introduction. For those newborn among you, we should perhaps mention that the Benkó Dixieland Band was formed in 1957 and each year gives between 200 and 250 concerts in Hungary and abroad and are deservedly regarded as Hungary’s travelling ambassadors for New Orleans jazz. The Budapest Klezmer Ba...nd does not just preserve the rich Jewish musical tradition of Central-East Europe. Bandleader and composer Ferenc Jávori uses transcriptions, suites and musical games creatively to breathe fresh life into klezmer songs. Entry is free.
