Under the professional guidance of the Liszt Prize-winning guitar virtuoso Ferenc Snétberger, the centre in Felsőörs will each year provide 60 Roma youngsters, starting in the summer of 2011, with the opportunity to develop their musical talent. The teaching staff includes internationally recognised musicians and educators such as Kálmán Oláh, Attila László, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, Miklós Lukács and János Balázs Jnr., as well as outstanding international guest performers like Tony Lakatos and Roby... Lakatos. The first intake of students finish their studies at the end of March, and the amount of progress the children have already achieved in such an inspiring environment is already apparent. One goal of the project – to ensure that students leave the centre ready to perform music on stage with their classmates and teachers – has been wholly realised. Proof of this comes with this wonderful concert opportunity, where the youngsters will get the chance to show their skills before a wider public on the Palace of Arts stage to mark the closing day of the Budapest Spring Festival.
