Judging by their technical qualifications, familiarity with styles and knowledge of forms, the Hungarian jazz musicians belong undoubtedly to the top ranks of the world, however only a few are granted world fame. To achieve this, one must sometimes move to America. The aim of Jazz Showcase is to introduce Hungarian talents to European and American jazz authorities, who might thus get to know what excellent musicians represent the new generations of Hungarian jazz, and who, according to our hopes..., might help our youth towards further education, recording possibilities or concert tours. On all three days, the concert of the first young band starts at 4 PM, followed by further 3-3 performers at 5, 6 and 7 PM. In the evenings, noted artists who each follow a different, strong line of Hungarian jazz will appear on stage: 4 January, at 20:00: Dresch Mihály Quartet Mihály Dresch – soprano and tenor saxophone, recorders, Miklós Lukács - cimbalom, Mátyás Szandai – double bass, István Baló - drums 5 January, at 20:00: Babos Project Special Gyula Babos - guitar, Mónika Veress - vocals, Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos - piano, keyboards, Viktor Hárs – double bass, László Balogh - drums 6 January, at 20:00: Szakcsi Trio featuring Gábor Bolla Béla Szakcsi Lakatos - piano, Gábor Bolla - soprano and tenor saxophone, János Egri – double bass, Emil Jellinek - drums The Dresch Mihály Quartet mixes primarily elements of Hungarian folk music with jazz. One of the legendary personalities of fusion jazz, Gyula Babos sounds Gypsy traditions too, together with his young and even younger companions. The formation of Béla Szakcsi Lakatos plays music, which the pianist defines as Gypsy Jazz; this will be enriched with the innovative and sweeping modern mainstream performance of the 18-year-old saxophonist Gábor Bolla at this concert.
