Zsolt Szabó – viola da gamba, fidula, István Gyôri – Renaissance lute, baroque guitar, Béla Ágoston – bagpipes, recorders, kaval, fujara, Kornél Horváth – percussion instruments Irén Lovász brings to life the love poetry and dance music of the Renaissance on her new album and in this concert, spiced with modern sounds since she has invited some supreme Hungarian exponents of folk, early music and experimental jazz to play with her. Everyone contributes their own style and in this way, the s...inger and the four musicians makes this centuries old music modern. The choice of songs is the work of not just a singer but a scholar: Irén Lovász obtained a PhD in ethnography and her principal area of research is sacred communication. Renaissance love lyrics, manuscript collections of the 16th to 18th centuries and folk songs that are believed to date from that period will be performed, alongside some favourites from Irén’s earlier albums.
