The evening’s programme embraces Hungarian folk music and workings of folk songs alongside contemporary compositions and improvisations played on both modern and traditional instruments. The performers invite their audience on an unusual musical adventure, journeying back from Hungarian contemporary music to interpretation of its origins in folk song, on through pure folk music, and then digressing into folk-inspired improvisation. This moving back and forth through musical genres is made possib...le through the combined skills of performers who represent fundamentally different styles. Jazz musician Mihály Borbély, flautist Márk Fülep and cimbalom master Miklós Lukács need no introduction to a Hungarian audience. Joining them for this concert, brought to the stage by Fülep, will be the acclaimed singer Szilvia Bognár, the folk violinist Mihály Sipos (from the group Muzsikás) and the folk dancers Zoltán “Batyu” Farkas and Ildikó Tóth.
