Ervin Lázár writer and fabulist (the author of unforgettable tales, like ’The Seven-Headed Fairy’, ’Poor Dzsoni and Árnika’, and ’Berzsián and Dideki’) left us in last December. He would be 71 years old on 5 May. On occasion of his birthday and to commemorate his life and works, a multimedia compilation entitled ’Bard Competition in the Woods’ celebrates him, along with a musical fairytale by the Sebő Ensemble under the same title. The compilation narrated by Ferenc Sebő will include the most... memorable moments of the film interviews with Ervin Lázár; pieces of the family photo album; excerpts from his short stories read by György Kézdi; an excerpt from Gyula Sárközi and Zsófia Lázár’s dance fairytale ‘Bug Story’, performed by the KFKI Chamber Ballet; and a glimpse of the illustrations by Lászkó Réber and Alexandra Faltisz. The musical fairytale of the Sebő Ensemble entitled ’Bard Competition in the Woods’ includes bits and pieces from such works by Ervin Lázár as ‘Dömdö-dömdö-dömdödöm’ from the volume ‘Rectangular Round Woods’, and ’The Rabbit as an Interpreter ’ and the ’Lying Mouse’ from the book ’The Seven-headed Fairy’. This will be a programme for adults, which the children must also see.
