The awards for best feature film and best original music went to the same production and its creators at the 2009 Hungarian Film Week. For director Áron Mátyássy’s gripping film drama, music composer Albert Márkos and singer Veronika Harcsa created some devastatingly suggestive music that is modern and ageless at the same time: trip-hop, down tempo, psychedelic, retro-funk, contemporary and classical interludes, blues, jazz, gospel and hip-hop alternate – even within a single song. The jury emph...asised that the modernity and high quality of the music, and the fact that the songs are sung in English might even bring them international success. The quasi super group recording the score has created a very strong musical piece that 99% of bands “manufacturing” music can but envy. Beside the authors we can hear Márton Sütő (Smárton Trio, ex-Kiss Erzsi), Mátyás Premecz (Barabás Lőrinc Eklektric), and also the recordings of Jackie Orszáczky. In parallel with the première of the film, the authors deliver an extraordinary film concert at the Palace of Arts, providing a new interpretation of both the film and its music. For the sake of this performance, the original forty-minute score has been further composed and extended; also bits and pieces of the motion picture have been “used freely”: the film has been entirely re-edited and several of the deleted scenes have also been “brought back in”. Hence a completely new performance has been created, making use of the extremes of the music’s relationship with the motion picture frames, as well as the possibilities of improvising – in both areas. For the visual re-design of the production, the director has hired a real name, hugely popular young director Pater Sparrow.
