Hungarian guitarist, now German resident Ferenc Snétberger has always drawn powerful inspiration from playing in duos. He devoted one of a series of concerts to mark his fiftieth birthday on jazz duets: his guest was László Dés, as well as Tunisian Arab lutenist Dhafer Youssef, trumpeter Marcus Stockhausen, double bass player Arild Andersen and the one man rhythm section, percussionist Paolo Vinaccia. Over the past eighteen months, Snétberger’s fascination with the duet form has perhaps grown... even stronger and he has sought out musical relationships with some leading artists. In the summer of 2007, he was invited by Bobby McFerrin to play at Spanish and German festivals and in October, toured Japan with Tony Lakatos who will be playing at this concert as well. He enjoys a working relationship with Grammy winning Chicago born harmonica virtuoso Howard Levy which began at the Bolzano Jazz Festival. Levy, like Snétberger, likes to cross boundaries of genre and has performed in jazz, pop, rock, folk, country, world and Latin music. Ferenc Snétberger and guests present a concert that is a meeting between individual and yet related musical worlds.
