He’s been called the Devil’s Fiddler and the Paganini of Vojvodina, a wunderkind who, when he takes the stage with an instrument in his hand – be it a violin or zither – is capable of anything, taking his audience to levels to which only those born to the task can take them. Félix Lajkó plays music according to his own rules. There is no need for a stylistic definition and no need for descriptions, as his music is about precisely the opposite: the transgression of conventional styles and the ac...ceptance of the inexplicable. His themes are sometimes banally simple like the sounds of nature, harmonious like a good wine, and – most importantly – often aimed directly at the heart, producing a sound that is personal and true to life for many of his listeners. Lajkó’s concerts in the Palace of Arts are always unique and unrepeatable, and this occasion promises to be no exception, taking as its theme the title of one of the defining tracks from his first album: Serenade. A great many declarations may be made in the country on Valentine’s Day, but perhaps only this one on violin: the unadorned confession of a violinist from on life, music and happiness!
