Edyta Geppert – vocals, Tomasz Kukurba – violin, viola, Jerzy Bawoł – accordion, Tomasz Lato – double bass, Krzysztof Herdzin – piano, Tomasz Grochot – drum Kroke are well known in Hungary, having already played at the Palace of Arts, and worldwide are one of the most popular klezmer bands. Fifteen years ago, the members met each other at the Krakow Music Academy since when these guys have managed to extract everything possible from a fusion of klezmer, jazz and contemporary chamber music usi...ng violin, accordion and double bass. No surprise that Nigel Kennedy made an album with them. Their forthcoming eighth record was recorded with a female vocalist. Edyta Geppert had already conquered Poland with her talent, before she joined Kroke for their first internationally distributed album Śpiewam Życie. This proved that Edyta is at home in not only Polish and Yiddish folk music but also in chansons, jazz and dance music. Her voice can be tender, steely, fresh or nostalgic and she is backed up by Kroke’s respectful and yet markedly individual accompaniment: together they create a musical world which grabs the audience with its emotional maturity, raising it above time and musical genres.
