Most Hungarians know hits such as “Nem leszek a játékszered”, “Mi fáj?”, “Nem várok holnapig,” “Rövid az élet”, “Színes ceruzák” which were written for a famous television pop music competition in the 60s. This concert features these and other songs from the era. But... Yes, there is a “but!” We must take the question and exclamation marks in the title seriously because both statement and question are true. We shall hear those winning songs from the ‘66, ‘67, ‘67, ‘69 pop music festivals which b...ecame evergreen hits, it’s generally agreed they are among the best Hungarian songs ever written and there is no house party where at least one of these songs is not played. But there would be little sense in arranging a nostalgia concert that evokes just the nineteen sixties at the Palace of Arts. For this reasons, we have found performers for these songs who offer a fantastic musical experience to the audience – and not just to those who like nostalgia. For example, the legendary Nem leszek a játékszered (“I won’t be your toy”), immortalised by the amazing Kati Kovács, will be sung tonight by folk music singer Bea Palya. See, we really do have a surprise in store! The other songs will be performed by artists who are not known as pop singers but who are world famous in their own genres.
