András Berecz – singer, story teller Featuring: Ökrös Band, Zoltán Juhász – pipes, Dániel Szabó – cimbalom, as well as other musicians and dancers András Berecz became famous as the singer of the Ökrös and Egyszólam folk bands but he is now legendary as a fairy story teller as well. In this programme to celebrate his fiftieth birthday, it couldn’t be any other way: “Besides Mezőség, Gyimes, Kalotaszeg and Somogy folk songs, dance and story telling puts us all in the mood”. “Hopp, one of my ...hands ends up at my ear,” says Berecz, “and bends it forward. This will end up in singing; anyone who feels sorry for János Csorba, the Sardian or Tartar singers for their similar posture can feel sorry for me too... I picked up the habit from musicians. So that I can hear my own voice too. I have turned fifty, so ... I would say ... I have been driven by this passion for twenty-two years: singing with an orchestra and hearing myself too.”
