With a view to cider and brandy, boisterous men pulp the year’s apple produce with thick staffs: according to legend, this is the origin of txalaparta, the folk instrument of the Basques. One of the simplest instruments in the world, it basically consists of a few well-chosen (i.e. good-sounding) planks, which only need to be placed on a pair of trestles to start a stunning orgy of rhythm. The Ttukunak Duo, the two Gómez sisters, will not only dazzle us with their energetic and virtuosic playing..., but will also reveal the secrets of how to beat the txalaparta.
