In recent years, the National Philharmonic Orchestra has placed great emphasis on the musical education of the younger generation. In its subscription youth concert series launched some years ago, it offers only the best to the concert-going audience of the future – as Kodály himself demanded. To close the 2010–2011 season, Hungary’s leading symphony orchestra and one of its finest professional choirs perform a concert for children under the guidance of outstanding conductor and chorus master Má...tyás Antal. The programme has been compiled from works in which monarchs burst into song and performing arias. The role of the people in the concert’s imposing and large-scale tableaux is taken by the choir, creating a genuinely operatic experience.
