10:30-14:30 The concert of young talents in cooperation with schools from Budapest and the countryside 15:00 A quiz game entitled ’Kodály’s Life Work’ 16:00 ’Music Belongs to Everyone!’ – playing music together 17:00 The opening ceremony of the Kodály-exhibition 2007 is the year of Zoltán Kodály, who belongs to the greatest as a composer, a musicologist, a teacher and as a folk music researcher just as well. On 6 March, we remembered him on occasion of the 40th anniversary of his death,... while on 16 December we will celebrate the 125th anniversary of his birth. In the Palace of Arts, concerts greeted him and his art whole-year-around, and on the Saturday before his birthday the House awaits those, whom Kodály always wanted to address: children and young people. His works will be sounded by young talents, students, choirs and orchestras of different music schools, and of elementary and secondary schools of music. Under the sign of the concept of Kodály, ’Music Belongs to Everyone!’, young people can participate in a music jam with the lead of musicians; while they can compare their knowledge of the Master and his art in the frame of a quiz. Kodály considered it quite important that young people studying music should also be acquainted with and at home in other branches of art. In the spirit of this, the Palace of Arts has announced a fine art competition for 5- to 15-piece groups of students aged 10-18, to create together a work of fine art inspired by Psalmus Hungaricus.
