Tamás Érdi – piano, Imola Korhecz – performance artist The new series “Thinker” Concerts at the Palace of Arts is built around the knowledge and experiences of high-school students. The performing artists will endeavour to bring music closer to them through poetry and other genres. We invite boys and girls who are open to the values of art, for whom meeting other branches of the arts is an exciting adventure and who, while enjoying works of art, are happy to discover new hidden relationships.... This is why this series takes its name from the Auguste Rodin sculpture The Thinker. One of the greatest Hungarian composers, Béla Bartók and one of the nation’s finest poets Attila József were not only contemporaries but thought and felt very similarly. They both had a very deep sense of what the first half of the 20th century “meant” what was beautiful and inspiring, and what were the ominous signs that filled a sensitive person with anxiety. They both loved Hungary in their own way, and in their love, experienced similar joys and disappointments. Although one chose music, the other the word as their means of expression, we can find numerous parallels in their works. Tamás Érdi, who is now an internationally famous pianist has been blind since his birth. He knows the world through sounds, scents, words, thoughts and most of all, through music. Imola Korhecz is an ethnic Hungarian from the Voivodina region of Serbia and began reciting verses while still at school in Subotica. Her joint appearances with Tamás Érdi have been great successes everywhere.
