Yvette Bozsik has already choreographed several of the works of Igor Stravinsky, among them The Rite of Spring, Petrushka and Pulcinella. Stravinsky wrote his ballet The Firebird in 1910, taking the miraculous bird of Eastern Slav mythology as its motif. According to the magical Russian folk tale, every feather “was so wondrous and radiant that if you were to take it into a darkened room it would illuminate that room as if by the light of a great many candles.” The firebird has the power to su...bdue evil demons, singing the spectres of hell to sleep with its lullaby. The first piece in the Evening of Passion premiered in the Hungarian State Opera House was Yvette Bozsik’s choreography to Stravinsky’s Les Noces. The music and visual design are mirrored in the appearance of the male and female principals, portrayed in an almost impersonal wedding of stylized rituals. The ballet, which won the Rudolf Lábán Prize in 2009, will be performed by dancers of the Yvette Bozsik Company and the Hungarian National Ballet. Presented by the National Dance Theatre
