“Composer and performer Karl Jenkins became famous through his artist’s name of Adiemus, and so this piece took its name from him. Adiemus is one of the leading composers of our time and has written much familiar film music. The diversity of his work has inspired me as a choreographer, and so I have compiled my favourites into a 10-minute ballet composition. The title of the principal melody is Ascent to Heaven. The ballet traces the progressive themes of birth – youth – aging – death. They do n...ot tell a concrete story but suggest feelings about life which I hope are accessible for all.” Michael Kropf Robert North’s tautly constructed choreography leads the audience on a terrifying journey in which they can experience the exciting relationship between the young girl and death. Rooster with its body language, spiced with the style and wit of the sixties and seventies, stands out with its vitality. The gripping rhythms of the Rolling Stones’ best known hits and the fresh choreography will inspire the audience. “Rooster was directly inspired by the Rolling Stones’ music to celebrate their music and era.” Christopher Bruce Additional performance: Festival Theatre December 10 (19.00)
