But in truth, what lies at the bottom of the lake? A tortured soul, this is Tchaikovsky’s vision in symbols, a story about disillusionment, solitude, love, death, dreams and reality. It is a despairing search for liberty by individuals hurtled into crisis, a surreal tale about the bottom-most layer of the soul, about which we can only talk with the aid of symbols. In many mythologies, the swan is an intermediary between this world and the next, an adventurous being in the dimensions of reality, but it is also a symbol of spiritual clear sightedness, wisdom and true love. The image of the accursed swan girls who win human form from just midnight to dawn occurs in several mythologies. In our story, a very contemporary young man meets with the birds that are migrating between dimensions, and in a flash, everything surrounding him that signified his life changes. This psycho-mythical story, which can be interpreted on numerous levels is, in Tamás Juronics’s new interpretation, a collective “psycho-tale” of 21st century man.
