Formed in 1974, the “Kharoshki” state dance company is characterized by the highest standard of choreography, and by the combination of the raciness of the national style and dance which comes from the soul. Since its inception the group has performed in the accompaniment of its own orchestra and vocal group. Both classical and modern instruments can be found in the orchestra including the bass guitar, flute, viola, clarinet, violin, accordion and percussion instruments. It is the old instrument...s which give the orchestra its real Belarusian folk style - bagpipes, horns, diatonic dulcimers, basotlias and pagan “kemenches” (these instruments are made of wheat, reed stems and ledum) and always captivate audiences with the power and beauty of their sound. Among the old instruments many fell into oblivion for a long time, and it was only possible to come across them as pieces displayed in museums. The original costumes of the dancers extol the work of talented Belarusian masters. Most of them are woven and embroidered by hand. They represent true artistic and ethnographic value.
