The music is provided by the Óbuda Danubia Orchestra, a firm favourite of regular visitors to the Palace of Arts, besides three other groups, each representing a different style of tango music. In a series of episode-like scenes, the production tells of the loves, the people and way of life that were the essence of the old tangos. It does all this in the language of the tango, which to this day remains as modern as it is old. In the LiberTango the past and present are interwoven to create a single moment, dilating time, encompassing the ancient and the new. Dancers of the tango have always longed for the same things: new opportunities in a changing world, freedom and, of course, love. Authentic and modern music is blended with authentic and modern dance; the dance of the new millennium draws on its heritage, showing where it originated from and what it has become. However, the emotions that dominate the tango are all eternal and constant forces driving people and the relationship between man and woman. Thus, the tango is capable of giving everybody what they desire – love, freedom and passion – whether they dance, watch, or simply listen to the captivating music.
