It was more than 140 years ago that the world-famous Bolshoi Ballet premièred a work that is still considered one of the greatest classics of the genre: Cervantes’s story of Don Quixote, the ingenious gentleman. Originally choreographed in four acts by Marius Petipa to the music of Ludwig Minkus, it is a light and triumphant ballet still among the most popular works of dance. Founded on Spanish rhythms, the dark tones are replaced here by an amorous vein and positive outcome as a suite in two ac...ts reworked by Gyula Harangozó, Ildikó Pongor and Angéla Kövessy. This abridged form nonetheless maintains classical traditions and is the first ever performance of Don Quixote in Hungary. The lead roles will be performed by outstanding soloists from the Hungarian National Ballet.
