These days Hungarian folk dance is enjoying renewed popularity thanks to the television talent show "Felszállott a páva.” Researching and bringing to the stage our dance and musical traditions in their original form has always been the basis of creative endeavours by the artists of the Honvéd Dance Theatre. We are invited on a journey of rediscovery of the treasures of Hungarian folk art tradition; its striking traditional costumes, its enchanting folk melodies and the inimitable virtuosit...y of its dances. The peacock motif, a symbol of eternal love in Hungarian folk art, acts as the central theme of the first part of the performance. The second part features a piece of lyrical choreography conceived by Zoltán Zsuráfszky to accompany Zoltán Kodály's Peacock Variations for symphony orchestra.
A joint production of the Honvéd Ensemble and National Dance Theatre.
