The Háromszék Folk Ensemble from Sepsiszentgyörgy returns to the Palace of Arts for a third time with its latest production, which it premièred at this same venue in October 2011. Masks have played an important role in ritual since the beginning of time as a frontier between the everyday and the godly or otherworldly. This production entitled The Mask explores man's first urges to hide behind animal skins, and his reasons for concealing his face and body. It then goes on to investigate what beco...mes of man once he is hidden. The creators of this fascinating production progress from the dawn of history to the masked dramas of the 20th and 21st centuries, taking in a variety of festivals and customs along the way in their search for the true face of man, be it hidden or unmasked.
