Since 1983, International Dance Day has been celebrated every year on 29 April. The date is the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, a giant of classical dance. For many years, the Hungarian National Dance Theatre and the Association of Hungarian Dance Artists have held a gala evening on this important date. The event is an opportunity for the association to announce its awards: prizes for life’s work, for the year’s best male and female dancers, for the finest creative work, and for the best dance... students, as well as teaching awards and acknowledgements for advancement of the genre and contributions to dance. The Viktor Fülöp Scholarship will also be awarded on this evening, along with the Zoltán Imre Award. In addition, the gala event will showcase examples of the work of 2011 award winners. Presented by: National Dance Theatre
