The special objective of the three part competition in classical ballet and modern dance categories is to seek new talents, to discover the dance artists of the future and to assess the current standards of the new generation. To this end, the most talented pupils of middle- and higher-level accredited dance schools are given the opportunity to perform before the cream of the international dance community and show just what they can do. The president of the jury is Frédéric Olivieri, the directo...r of ballet at La Scala Milan, while the jury members are directors of Hungarian and international ballet companies and schools. They gave great support to the first competition and with their comments and feedback, helped raise the bar for the young artists. The competition will feature between 100 and 150 young dancers, aged from thirteen to twenty, and half the competitors are from abroad. Prize winners from leading international competitions have signalled their intention to enter the competition as well. The Festival Theatre will host the final on the 27th and the following day we will see the prize-giving gala ceremony, the star guests of which will be Rudra as well as graduation students from the Maurice Béjart school and the Milan Scala Ballet Academy. They will be performing a marvellous choreography by Mats Ek. The principal organisers of the competition are Georgina Ékes and Noémi Kulcsár, presidents of the International Youth Ballet Society. This society aims to lend a helping hand to talented young dancers, to organise international co-operation and exchange programmes and to find work for dance artists at the start of their careers. Principal sponsor of the event is UNIQA, the insurance company of the new generation.
