In Seven, presented to mark the tenth anniversary of Compagnie Pál Frenák’s foundation, the choreographer looks at what it means to be an expatriate. He questions the necessity of redefining individuality and national identity, and whether such a transformation is at all possible. The process of breaking free and integrating is presented as a kind of abstract, corporal metamorphosis. The choreography enhances abstracted movement in a way that treats the entire three-dimensional space as a “dance...able” spatial geometry, which can be modified by the simple process of rearranging the scene. Using contemporary elements of fine art, it stretches the boundary between the possible and the impossible.
