Beginning in spring 2007 the stars of the ballet ensemble of the Hungarian State Opera House have organised evenings in two parts with the title Colours of the Hungarian National Ballet – from classical to modern. In the show, extracts from 19th and 20th century Russian ballet as well as Western and Hungarian, modern and neo-classical style concert numbers succeed one another and these have been supplemented with compositions by young Hungarian choreographers, Patrick Jurányi, András Lukács and ...Marianna Venekei. This time, the ensemble pays tribute to the work and art of László Seregi and Lilla Pártay, two of the most influential Hungarian choreographers. We know from past experience that audiences are hugely interested in the gala dance programmes at the Palace of Arts. We hope that this evening assembled from dance numbers with disparate styles will create a tradition and that Hungary’s premiere dance ensemble will succeed in winning new admirers.
