In autumn 2007, the ballet ensemble of the Hungarian State Opera House organises a night of two halves, entitled ‘The Colours of the Hungarian National Ballet – From Classical to Modern’, featuring the stars of the ensemble. The choice of the title is not accidental: 19th and 20th century Russian ballet excerpts appear in turns with Western and Hungarian modern and neo-Classical concert pieces; while some compositions by young Hungarian choreographers (Patrick Jurányi, András Lukács and Mária... Venekei) supplement the program. This time, the ensemble also pays hommage to the art and works of such noted Hungarian choreographers who play a determining part in the ballet repertoire, such as Lilla Pártay and László Seregi. In the second half of the evening, the excerpts of their ballet works 'Anna Karenina' and 'Romeo and Juliet' will also be performed. Experiences so far have proven that the audience has always followed the opera gala programs taking place in the Palace of Arts closely. Hopefully, the tradition of the evenings compiled from dance pieces of different styles would continue to grow, while the number one ballet ensemble of Hungary would acquire further fans.
