Karl Jenkins: The Bards of Wales - première

Arany’s famous ballad conveys an everlasting message: there have always been and will always be people who are not afraid to speak up for freedom, even if it means risking their lives. The new cantata is the praise of civil courage and human bravery that is always ready to defy tyranny and any kind of oppression.

Karl Jenkins is the most performed contemporary British composer in the world, who was born in Wales. The shining star of the 70’s Montreux Jazz Festival makes his debut in Hungary with his new grand scale symphony, inspired by Arany’s ballad. The Budapest world premiere will be featuring a mixed choir of 170 selected English, Hungarian and Welsh singers, as well as renowned soloists, with the MÁV Symphony Orchestra conducted by the composer himself.
