„WAGNER IN BUDAPEST” OPERA FESTIVAL 2012
This will be the seventh year the Palace of Arts will be hosting the Wagner in Budapest Opera Festival. This time around, besides the tried-and-tested, internationally renowned performance of the The Ring of the Nibelung tetralogy, the institution will also be staging Tannhäuser, which has never been part of the programme until now. The primary objective of these Palace of Arts performances is to present lengthy performances to audiences young and old, beginner and advanced Wagner-lovers alike in an interesting way, without even a hint of boredom. To achieve this goal, the Palace of Arts hires star performers who have in the past proven themselves as being able to meet the high vocal and performing standards of Wagner’s operas. At the same time, however, the focus of the Budapest productions is in each and every case the piece itself and not the soloists. We can, therefore, recommend the concerts of the Wagner in Budapest Opera Festival to all those who wish to hear Wagner’s works in their astounding clarity.
