Zsuzsa Vámosi-Nagy, Ilona Meskó and the Ventoscala Symphony Orchestra are closely associated with charity concerts – this is the fourth occasion that the young artists have staged such events.
In addition to her successes in international competition, including first prize in the Bucharest and Timisoara international flute competitions, Zsuzsa Vámosi-Nagy was awarded the ”Queen's Commendation for Excellence” by Queen Elizabeth II in 2008, followed by the respected Junior Prima prize in 2009. She studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, before attending a postgraduate course at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She is currently enrolled in the PhD programme at the Liszt Academy, where she also teaches. The young flautist is a founder member of the Ventoscala Symphony Orchestra, where she is lead flute and resident soloist. In 2010, she also founded the Ventoscala Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble that operates separately from the symphony orchestra.
The Ventoscala Symphony Orchestra, led by artistic director and conductor Ilona Meskó, was formed in 2003 by a collective of ambitious young musicians. In addition to the traditional symphony orchestra repertoire, they have collaborated in a wide variety of exciting and innovative productions over the years. Several television recordings and three records bear testimony to their success.
Ilona Meskó is the outstanding figure of the latest generation of conductors. She first rose to prominence as a composer, before taking the baton with her own symphony orchestra and various other orchestras from 2004, giving countless concerts in Budapest and around the country. She has taught at the Leó Weiner High School for Music for the past ten years.
