János Megyik retrospective exhibition

9 March 2012 – 10 June 2011
Ludwig Museum

János Megyik (1938, Szolnok) explores the border territories of painting, sculpture and architecture and his work gravitates around modelling painted panel structures. Through his experiments he has created a use of space, which is unique to both architecture and sculpture. This retrospective exhibition explores how János Megyik treats panel painting as both spatial model and three dimensional object. This major exhibition investigates Megyik’s work through his paintings, drawings, stick constructions, photograms, cardboard reliefs and in his latest phase, iron sheets, as well as his architectural work, with a representative selection of his art from the late fifties to the present.
