The Ludwig Museum occupies the wing of the building closest to the Danube and is Hungary's only museum dedicated exclusively to the collection and display of contemporary art. It houses a significant collection of modern international and Hungarian fine art.
The Ludwig Museum moved into the Palace of Arts in 2005, where it occupies a space housing the latest in museum technology on three stories and over a total space of 3.300 m2. Taking account of the changing role of museums in society, it has a particular focus on interactivity and the function of the exhibition space as a mediator. This reflects the new and fundamentally changed attitudes and demands of visitors with regard to the display, promotion and democratisation of cultural values.
