Palace of Arts School Concerts
The Palace of Arts is launching a new series this school year, in the scope of which it will be showing one performance per occasion from the previously staged Matinée Concerts, adapted to the needs of the groups from education institutions, with weekday morning performance times, discount ticket prices and programs related to the curriculum, for the 8-16 year old age group. Tickets for these concerts are available only as group orders. Purchased tickets must be collected from the Palace of Arts box-office two weeks before the date of the concert at the latest.

Playtime – Don’t Just Listen!
Creative games with sounds and instruments
Participants at these sessions – organised for groups of 10-20 students at the Palace of Arts – will have the chance to explore their unexploited potential during activities based on improvisation and musical creativity, in addition to having the opportunity to experience the joys of ‘making music’. At the same time they will be able to broaden their musical knowledge, get an insight into how instruments work, and even try their hand at building instruments. Groups (ages 5-18) from educational institutions will be received on school days, subject to advance arrangement.

Extraordinary Meetings With Music
Interactive Sessions Related to Given Concerts
Groups of 15-20 will have the experience music and related arts in extraordinary fashion, taking the cue from concerts selected from the Palace of Arts’ repertoire, which participants will listen to together as part of the 5-date session series.
The program is structured in the following way:
1. Introducing each other and the world of music – session at the school
2. Music and related arts – session at the school
3. Visit to a rehearsal at the Palace of Arts
4. Concert visit at the Palace of Arts
5. Closing discussion at the school

The three school sessions and the rehearsal visit are free of charge and the program’s participants will have the option to buy discount-price tickets for the concert.
Organ Guided Tour
An audience with the Queen of Instruments
The monumental, 92-stop organ in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall at the Palace of Arts will be introduced to everyone interested by organist László Fassang. Visitors will receive first-hand information on the history of the construction and operation of the organ and have the chance to listen to the majestic sound of the instrument up close. Tune Up
Concert Introduction Meeting
Introductory discussions to precede visiting evening concerts and theatre performances for ‘grown-ups’ that are targeted at school groups – regardless of the number of students in the group or the content of the performance – that order group tickets or group student tickets. The Tune Up discussion can be held at the school on the day of the concert or one of the days preceding it or in the Stairway Hall at the Palace of Arts just before the concert itself.

Visiting the Palace of Arts Building
A free program for primary and secondary schools meant to introduce the building and operation of the Palace of Arts, subject to availability due to ongoing events at the building, and at times arranged in advance.

Student Discounts
Group discount in case of school orders submitted in writing:
Admission for teachers accompanying student groups attending events organised by the Palace of Arts is free per every 10 student. Student groups receive a 15% discount in case of the advance purchase of more than 20 tickets.
Discount tickets can be purchased for each of the ‘HangÁr’ programs.

Student Tickets
Students who hold valid student passes can purchase tickets to all public performances at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and the Festival Theatre for HUF 500 one hour before the given performance begins. The tickets are for designated standing places.
Partner School Programme
The Palace of Arts has embarked upon building a partner school network based on bilateral agreements between the given schools and the Palace of Arts for the sake of intensifying and boosting the effectiveness its cooperation with educational institutions. The Palace of Arts will continue the partner school program announced for public education institutions in the 2011/12 school year, to the end of achieving common goals that may be formulated in the field of art and audience education.
Partner School Programme objectives include:
- developing students’ receptive competencies,
- allowing them access to experiencing works of art at a personal level,
- helping them enjoy the most complete artistic experience possible,
- all this at the highest possible standard, involving a wide range of genres, and providing a quality guarantee,
- broadening the outreach of the Palace of Arts’ program to an audience that is as wide as possible, including families,
- kindling a need in the audience for the cultural values and artistic experiences our programs offer,
- making sure that, as future concert-goers, they feel right at home in the concert hall.
How to join:
- Educational institutions can join the Partner School Programme voluntarily after enquiries made in person or by responding to a public announcement to do so.
- Schools and the Palace of Arts will then enter into a bilateral agreement based on mutual commitments in the interest of accomplishing their professed common goals.
- This agreement will remain in force until the end of the school year, with the contracting parties committing to perform its provisions.

The Palace of Arts will conclude bilateral agreements with schools joining the Partner School Programme, in which the parties make mutual commitments. Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring the conditions required for the up-to-date and efficient communication between the institutions. The program brochure prepared for schools – sent to all interested institutions by email – presents the substance of the commitments and the other conditions in detail.
